Cleaning the Basement

I feel yucky.

Even with a mask on, I spent maybe 30-45 minutes cleaning in our basement and my allergies went nuts.

Yikes.

I had asked my husband what it would take to get that space useable, and about how much time… He said, “whenever you can go spend time down there and come back upstairs without allergy face.”

…helpful… At least he’s funny.

So I have decided to work in small bursts down there, doing a little at a time until it’s bearable.

My ultimate goal is to move our homeschooling down there so we have designated areas for learning and it’s not just taking over our dining room table all day every day.

Yesterday, I “webbed” an area of the basement. That’s what my exterminating company calls it when you use a broom to knock down spiders and cobwebs from the ceiling and walls.

Then I worked on a bit of floor scrubbage. I do not know what was on that floor, and I don’t want to. All I know is that it’s a different color in the spots I’ve cleaned. Yuck.

We’re trying to figure out how to get our dehumidifier to run constantly and drain out of the hose connection in the back. I haven’t checked it since I messed with some settings, but I’m hoping my efforts proved successful.

Then, I had been contemplating purchasing some wire rack shelving for the kitchen so I can get rid of the Rubbermaid tub and broken drawers I have there currently.

And then I happened upon this beauty in the basement, spider webs and all.

My plan is to clean and paint it and move it upstairs so it can be useful again.

I have quite enough to be getting on with in the meantime.
