One of my friends had a baby…like 3 months ago… I know, I dropped the baby gift ball.
It’s hard to find the time to craft (or perfect a craft) when you have 3 littles all vying for your attention. But, I’m making progress, which is something!
Here’s what I’ve gotten so far:
So I haven’t done embroidery since I was about 11 or 12 years old, so this project was mostly just review and practice of the various basic stitches and embellishments.
It’s not a perfect work of art, but I think it’ll be nice when it all comes together.
The beautiful thing about this project is that it’s reminded me that embroidery truly is an art that is mostly lost in this day and age of embroidery machines and appliques.
I enjoy embroidery because there is a much more artistic aspect to it than some of the other fiber arts/crafts. Unlike knitting, crochet, or counting cross stitch, embroidery is much more free and unrestricted from patterns and the mechanical procedure that make the others feel more like math than art to me.
I have about 3 more baby gifts to make and I hope to do a ribbon embroidery Project soon! I’ll keep you posted.
