Homestead Updates

It's finally starting to slow down around here, which is great! Because it'll pick up in full force for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Baby #4, New Years, chick brooding, garden planning, and seed starting soon enough! We've really been enjoying the fireplace on chilly evenings. I can't imagine ever getting tired of it. Friday Husband of mine … Continue reading Homestead Updates

Homestead Update

Well, I persuaded my husband to light the first fire of the year on Friday evening. It was wonderful. Prior to that I had my minis help me make Swedish meatballs for dinner. Those are the moments I treasure- peacefully functioning and just living life together. I need more of those moments. Sunday I tried … Continue reading Homestead Update

Restlessness and my Remedy

Sometimes I struggle with feeling restless and bored with the mundane day-to-day operations on the ol' homestead. I think if we're honest, most people do feel that way about life at some point. But I tend to handle it in a systematic fashion that has helped me cope with my chronic ADHD need to be … Continue reading Restlessness and my Remedy

Please Excuse my Sporadic Posts…

...I wonder how many posts I've written that begin with, "Oh my goodness, it's chaos around here..." I'll look into it. That's research I don't have time for at the moment. Update with the mold issue: I haven't been back down to the basement since I realized just how allergic I am to mold. The … Continue reading Please Excuse my Sporadic Posts…

No Harm in Farmin’: Shout Out!

I'm a dreamer. A dangerous pass time, I know. But, I started thinking... The other day, my 3 year old said, "What are you doing thinking!?" I think he meant what do you think you're doing, but the poignancy of his statement made me giggle... ...I started thinking, hey, wouldn't it be cool if I … Continue reading No Harm in Farmin’: Shout Out!

Happy Holidays and other Updates

My family and I had a spectacular Christmas holiday with my husband's parents and grandmother. I have to say, it was so nice to not have to pack up the whole crew and travel. Once Flynn is with us and (God willing) the dairy goats, I don't think picking up and heading out of state … Continue reading Happy Holidays and other Updates

Cut-away Embroidery

Whilst cleaning out the garage, I found a treasure trove of cut-away embroidery made by one of the matriarchs of the family who built and established our estate. Long forgotten, I'm sure, I was in awe of the intricacy of the needlework and the delicate beauty of something as simple as a tablecloth. There were … Continue reading Cut-away Embroidery

Small Hole Repair

One of the maxims I picked up in becoming a tightwad was, Use it up, wear it out. Make it do, or do without. I put that in to practice today when I put on one of my favorite maternity sweaters (yes, I've been pregnant for so many consecutive years, I've got favorite maternity clothes) … Continue reading Small Hole Repair

New Items in the Wholly Holy Living Shop

I am remis in maintaining our Etsy shop. I have been distracted by so many things- life in general, 3rd trimester of pregnancy, winter homestead preparations, sick toddlers... Anyway... I have a couple new listings in the shop right now. Some are unique handmade crocheted Christmas stockings. In addition to the stockings in unusual colors, … Continue reading New Items in the Wholly Holy Living Shop

DIY Breastfeeding Shirts; Attempt and Review

**I followed the tutorial video posted by The Sustainable Mama with a little twist of my own preference** I noticed something today... I can't afford designer clothing. Well, I've never worn designer clothing to begin with, but that's because I've never been able to afford it. Not even in my life BC (Before Children). Not only that, … Continue reading DIY Breastfeeding Shirts; Attempt and Review
